Almost there!

GhostNote isn't code-signed yet, so macOS may show a warning. Here's how to get past it:

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag GhostNote into Applications.
  2. On first launch, macOS may say "GhostNote can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."
  3. Open Terminal and run this command to allow it:
xattr -cr /Applications/GhostNote.app

Then open GhostNote again. It will launch normally from now on.

Your scripts stay local.

Local storage

Scripts are stored in GhostNote’s local app sandbox. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no collaboration. GhostNote runs no analytics, advertising, or telemetry, and never uploads script content.

Permissions

GhostNote does not request Screen Recording, camera, microphone, Accessibility, or Input Monitoring permission. Global shortcuts do not require Accessibility permission.

Network access

Editing and prompting make no network requests. Release builds can check a configured HTTPS appcast for signed software updates.

Diagnostics

GhostNote does not export diagnostics.
